Responsibilities/Pay Grade Starting pay for this position will be $14.24 per hour. JOB SUMMARY: PG 18 Cleans, inspects, and/or lubricates recyclable sorting equipment or performs routine maintenance or minor repairs on recycling equipment, such as star gears, finger sorters, de-stoners, belts, and grinders.Work is performed under thedirect supervision of the MRF Lead Mechanic. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Operates recycling equipment. Operates processing equipmentto sort recyclable materials. Cleans, inspects, and/or lubricates recyclablesorting equipment and/or performs routine maintenance or minor repairs on recycling equipment, such asdiscs andbelts. Sweeps and uses shovels to clean facility when needed. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Ability to read and write at an elementary school level, and comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions. Employees may work 8 - 12 hours daily. Overtime is requiredwhen needed. During emergency events operators are required to work 7 days a week for 10 to 12 hours per day. Physical Requirements/Working Environment While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to100 pounds.Climbs stairs, on catwalks, and on equipment. Working conditions are typically loudin work area while operating equipment, or machinery following all prescribed safety rules and regulations. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently exposed to unpleasant and hazardous working conditions, such asmoving mechanical parts,vibrations, high precarious places, noxious unpleasant fumes,and airborne particles. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Supplemental Information KNOWLEDGE: * Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, safety and maintenance. * Operation - Operationand maintenance of machinery and equipment. * Safety - Occupational hazards and safety precautions. SKILLS: * Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. * Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. * Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. * EquipmentOperation - Operating equipment and machinery. * Maintenance - Performing general maintenance and labor activities. ABILITIES: * Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. * Control Precision - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. * Arm-Hand Steadiness - The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. * Multi-limb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion. * Finger Dexterity - The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. * Communication - Ability to read, write and comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions. * Inspectionaccuracy- Inspect product load for accuracy. * Safety - Safely move product using specified equipmentin warehouse environment.
