Job Description:
Overview
To research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain systems and
product solutions, applying expert knowledge of engineering
principles. Assist with coordinating activities between multiple
disciplines within IT and vendors on both technical and
non-technical issues pertaining to computer system hardware and
software, network infrastructure, peripheral evaluation, and
integration. Considered subject matter expert and a key
stakeholder/key contributor on complex initiatives and project
teams. Conduct complex work assignments under limited supervision.
Cloud Engineering: Delivery of the computing services and the
duties associated with it such as designing, planning,
administering, developing, or maintaining applications in the
cloud-based environments.
Responsibilities
Lead integration of product technologies with respect to
mechanical, electrical, firmware and software for multiple on-going
projects
Serve as an advisor providing advice and counsel on assignments
concerned with specialized or unique engineering requirements
Define the application design and delivery adhering to a Service
Oriented Architecture paradigm, so that different components work
seamlessly
Drive system requirements, system specifications, input/output
processes and working parameters by using systems engineering best
practices
Responsible for systems analysis, design, development, integration,
enhancement, and deployment as well as application support for
various applications
Lead the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes
Define, develop or modify software application modules or
enterprise wide software systems using disciplined development
processes
Implement integration plans and interface with testing teams to
incorporate plans into the integration testing process
Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement information technology
that aligns with business needs and meets objectives
Use holistic knowledge of all products in the information
technology ecosystem to plan how new systems will be built and
integrated
Define and establish structure, process and governance mechanisms
for knowledge management and knowledge sharing platforms (e.g.,
assimilation, classification and dissemination, etc.)
Create operational artifacts, run-books and service level agreement
documents associated with products
Provide technical direction and leadership routinely to other
engineers; serve as a coach and mentor
Identify potential problems in design, quality, or operation and
initiate corrective action
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer
hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as
routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Identify opportunities to effectively mitigate risk and improve
performance and functionality
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or
related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training
and experience
Significant knowledge, understanding and experience in one or more
of the following: systems engineering, software engineering,
information systems management, etc. at the enterprise level in a
large multi-function organization, preferably at a large financial
services organization
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication
skills
Significant knowledge, understanding and experience with private,
public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google
Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc.)
Solid understanding of discipline engineering principles,
practices, and theories, and methods to identify and solve the
highest complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses
Experience in building and managing common platforms (e.g., Service
Now, Pega, Share point Online, Dynamics, etc.)
Experience with Agile software development practices including
Scrum, JIRA, Peer Review, Git and CI/CD
Solid knowledge, understanding and experience of the end-to-end IT
process, including architecture, design & engineering,
implementation, and operations
Solid knowledge, understanding and experience of databases, NoSQL
systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies
Solid knowledge, understanding and experience of project lifecycles
and management methodologies
Knowledge, understanding and experience with continuous integration
and deployment and tools chain (e.g., GIT, Jenkins, Maven, RunDeck,
Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
Self-motivated and proactive, able to learn quickly and apply new
concepts, tools and applications
Solid experience using an innovative approach to solving complex
system and integration problems.
Significant experience with problem solving, collaboration,
critical thinking, team building, and presentation skills
Significant experience with applying innovative approaches to solve
technical design issues
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or
related field
Knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products, and
services
Knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies
and procedures
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for
a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The
