OverviewAs a member of the Baseline Analytics Center for Enablement, the Data Analytics Engineer Summer Associate will focus on developing BI semantic layer data sources and insightful dashboards in Tableau and Power BI. This role will be responsible for ensuring that both the structure and representation of data are optimized for clarity, reusability, and actionable insights for stakeholders and business users.The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.ResponsibilitiesWork directly with business users to understand data analytics requirementsDesign and develop published data sources and datasets in Tableau and Power BIInterpret data and transform it into a format that is useful to the business and promotes effective decision makingDesign and develop visually engaging and informative analytics dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for business users and internal stakeholdersEnsure the integrity, accuracy, and relevance of the data presentedUse statistical practices to analyze current and historical data to make predictions, identify risks, and opportunities for enabling better decisions on planned/future eventsPresent dashboards to the BI & analytics communityEvaluate, develop, and implement analytical techniques and best practices to educate business usersPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsPursing Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or other related fieldFamiliarity with Tableau and Power BI, or other data visualization toolsFamiliarity with SQL and relational data modeling skillsAn analytical mindset with a strong ability to translate complex data into actionable business insightsAbility to communicate end to end data outcomes visually and through story tellingAbility to manipulate raw data into effective visualizations, reports, and dashboardsTeam player with enthusiasm for collaboration and continuous learningStrong communication and presentation skillsDesired QualificationsDemonstrates a high comfort level speaking in front of large audiencesExperience with data mapping and building requirementsProgramming experience in Python or RFamiliarity with foundational machine learning algorithms and concepts, like regression, clustering, and classificationFamiliarity with shell scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PMLocation: 820 Follin Ln, Vienna, VA 22180 - 5550 Heritage Oaks Dr, Pensacola, FL 32526Navy Federal is now hybrid!
