Job Description: Outside Machinist Installs, aligns, and repairs ship machinery such as propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, steering gear, laundry and galley equipment, working from blueprints and using hand tools, calipers and micrometers. lays out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connection such as shafting and steam lines. Align reduction gears, bearing, shafting, propellers, and rudder and steering engine assemblies. Pay: Day Shift: $40.00 Night Shift: $41.00 Per-Diem: $147.04 Sign-On Bonus: $1,000 Basic Qualifications: Requires a minimum of 4 or more years of experience as an outside machinist. Preferred Design Disciplines: Prior Shipyard experience a minimum of 4 or more years of experience as an outside machinist. Safety Environmental Factors: All employees are expected to adhere to the companys safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
