Job Description:
OverviewNFCU is hiring an Assistant Manager, Business Intel &
Data Science. The primary purpose of this job is to lead a team in
providing credit risk analytics and business insights for lending
portfolios including credit cards, auto, personal, real estate,
student, and business. Responsibilities include monitoring
performance and credit risk exposure, identification of emerging
risks, and presenting analysis to inform strategic decision making.
Assignments will include business analysis, front office requests,
dashboards, reporting, automation, and model development. The ideal
candidate will have experience leading teams, experience with one
or more lending products, and hands-on experience with various data
science tools. Successful candidates will exhibit effective
communication, analytical skills as well as strong leadership
qualities.ResponsibilitiesAssist with managing and leading business
intelligence development, including requirements gathering, design,
production implementation and maintenanceOversee project management
of multiple reporting, dashboard development, ad-hoc analysis and
data initiativesAssist with optimizing business operation
performance by analyzing current and forecasting future performance
to support strategic initiativesEvaluate/develop/implement
analytical techniques and best practices to gain a competitive
advantageMaintain understanding of business direction, environment
and strategies and work closely with stakeholders to ensure
analytic output addresses business needsAssist with leading team to
mine large datasets for new sources of information to better
understand drivers of performance in branch portfoliosCollaborate
with ISD to design and build the technology infrastructure
necessary to achieve data-driven analytic solutionsPartner with
internal business partners and external vendors to ensure
successful data integration/engineering, and data warehousingEnsure
that data processing standards, guidelines, procedures, controls
and best practices are followed across the departmentDevelop
dashboards leveraging best practices in data visualization and
champion the use across the departmentAssist with managing the
collection, correlation, analysis, and reporting of data and
studies of organizational information to drive department
operations, business decisions, and mitigate risk/lossAssist with
managing the maintenance of databases to ensure operational
efficiency and reduce operational riskIdentify and resolve
operational and performance gaps and obstacles; develop and
implement changes and improvementsLead the development of reports
and solutions to establish and strengthen system controls,
facilitate process management, data reconciliation, to improve
services and productsMaintain thorough knowledge of and ensure
compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules,
regulations and NFCU policies and proceduresAssist with developing
and maintaining team-specific components of the Division Annual
Financial Plan (AFP)Participate in organization-wide project teams;
monitor projects assigned to the department and ensure milestones
are completed on schedulePartner with senior management to ensure
internal/external regulatory exam preparednessAssist with
developing and implementing new/updated policies, procedures, goals
and priorities as necessitated by demands, changing conditions,
and/or management requestPerform other duties as
assignedQualificationsAdvanced knowledge of applicable federal and
state, laws, rules and regulations that govern the
functionsSignificant progressively responsible experience leading
and managing an analytics operation, preferably in a large
financial institution to include operational and regulatory risks
and controlsWorking knowledge of any of the following:
asset/liability management, financial accounting, cost accounting,
budgeting principles and practices, statistics, finance, and/or
mathematic modelingWorking knowledge of banking/financial industry
trends, products and servicesSignificant experience in the use of
statistical modeling software (e.g. SAS or SPSS), and with QRM
systems and softwareWorking knowledge of the concepts of
asset-liability managementSignificant experience demonstrating
thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and
creativity solving business problemsSignificant experience managing
multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to
achieve goalsSignificant experience in working with all levels of
staff, management, stakeholders, vendorsSignificant experience
supervising and leading professional employeesAdvanced
organizational, planning and time management skillsAdvanced
research, data mining/querying, analysis, and reporting skills,
including proficiency in sophisticated statistical methods and
