This Pharmacy Tech- Administrative provides support to the Pharmacy Administration (the Corporate Director of Pharmacy, the Inpatient Director of Pharmacy, and the Clinical Manager) and staff as assigned. In addition, this person serves as the receptionist for pharmacy administration. The ideal candidate is a team player and shows discretion in handling confidential material. This position will produce and analyze various pharmacy reports, including controlled substance reports, drug utilization, etc. They will assist in the creation of monitoring dashboard, pharmacy presentations, and recording/maintaining meeting minutes. Additional functions may be delegated as needed. Additionally, this person will be certified to function as a pharmacy technician. This is imperative for the ability to cross cover the workflow as needed to support the overall operations of the pharmacy. Accordingly, this person will be required to maintain licensure and all clinical/regulatory competencies associated with the Pharmacy Technician role.

Responsibilities

  • Provides research and administrative support to special projects. Prepares data on projects and studies such as analyzing division activities. Gathers, investigates, researches analyzes or studies information impacting divisional operations.
  • Composes correspondence, memos, reports as instructed. Takes shorthand, dictation and/or transcribes from handwritten material or Dictaphone. Using word processor, types, formats, edits, proofreads, and reproduces a variety of material including correspondence, memos, reports, charts, statistics, minutes, etc.
  • Electronically maintains appointment calendars for Pharmacy Administration
  • Prepares for meetings, notifies participants, prepares agenda, takes and transcribes minutes of special committee meetings, regular meetings.
  • Interacts on a regular basis with senior level administration, Hospital personnel and visitors.
  • Maintains files and security of confidential information and maintains tickler file.
  • Responds to calls and visits from patients, their families and the public at large; determines urgency of the situation. Suggests appropriate referrals. Answers telephones, prioritizes, screens and redirects calls. Answers questions, handles routine matters on own initiative and takes messages.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment effectively.
  • Fulfills nursing requests for medication restock, triaging appropriate requests to the pharmacist as needed.
  • Prepackages and labels medications into unit doses from bulk supply.
  • Restocks nursing units, operating room, recovery room, and ancillary departments with a limited supply of floor stock medications and supplies.
  • Bills/credits patient medications by use of the computer charging system.
  • Orders necessary supplies/services from materials management and / or vendors

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
      Minimum Work Experience

      • 1-3 years administrative office experience Required
        Licenses and Certifications

        • Registered Pharmacy Technician State of Florida Upon Hire Required
          Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

          • Experience in Word & Excel and pharmacy computer systems.
          • Good communication skills via phone & in person.
          • Ability to handle several tasks at once, function well as a team-player, use discretion in handling confidential material, and work with little supervision. Willingness to assume other responsibilities as appropriate.
          • Demonstrates competency in IV Preparation.
          • Knowledge of inventory control procedures including narcotic record keeping and unit dose medication systems.
