The individual holding this position monitors daily activities and provides additional support to Youth Care Specialists I. Duties also include informing Youth Care Supervisor of programmatic issues on a daily basis. Responsibilities also include supervising shelter intakes and monitoring all paperwork completed by YCS I's.A Day in the Life of aYouth Care Specialist IIOversees Youth Care Staff (YCS I) in their essential functions.Responsible for carrying a telephone/pager on a rotation basis.Both detect and envision potential safety and security hazards to youth in residence, subsequently making recommendations and implementing corrective actions as appropriate or required.As directed, participates in the implementation and monitoring of client case plans.Responsible for coordination of donations to the facility in conjunction with the YCS Supervisor and Shelter Services Manager.Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of facility in conjunction with the YCS Supervisor.Responsible for ensuring 24-hour direct care staff coverage in conjunction with YCS Supervisor.Screens clients, conducts initial intakes, and administers client satisfaction surveys as directed.Supervises shelter intakes new clients.Participates in training youth care staff.Maintains monthly statistical reports in coordination with YCS Supervisor.Supervises youth as needed.Responsible for scheduling maintenance and upkeep of van, in conjunction with YCS Supervisor.Performs related work as required.QualificationsPhysical Requirements:Must have a high level of energy; full physical requirements such as lifting, bending, cooking, cleaning, and using the telephone. Ability to transport youth in agency van; accompany youth on field trips and other recreational outings.Education:An Associates Degree in Human Service field, or a high school diploma, GED or equivalency completion certification.Experience:Minimum of two (2) years experience working with youth/troubled youth in an organized/structured setting preferred.Skills/Abilities:Must have good organization, written and verbal skills. Dependability, discretion and good judgment are essential. Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, and general public.Other:Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.Certified CPR/First Aide, crisis intervention, and valid drivers' license and insurance required.Principle Accountabilities:Reports to YCS Supervisor.Detects and envisions safety and security hazards.Team player with co-workers and administrators.Ensures maintenance of shelter.Effective staff management and leadership.Adheres to agency policies and procedures.Why work for LSF?Ability to Make an Impact in Multiple AreasLSF offers several programs, spanning across a wide range of populations in need.
