Under the direct supervision of the director of inpatient
pharmacy services, directs and supervises assigned technical
personnel and assumes responsibility for technical support
activities within the pharmacy department. Trains all supportive
personnel and ensures the maintenance of all standards of the
pharmacy. Translates pharmacy policy and procedures into the daily
operation of the pharmacy in accordance with Joint Commission;
always represent the pharmacy department in a professional manner.
Completes all necessary requirements for evaluations, performance
improvement, interviewing and dismissal of pharmacy technicians.
May also be required to perform a variety of technical and clerical
duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and
intravenous admixture program including all aspects of labeling and
preparation of medication, inventory control, medication delivery,
and sterile product compounding as necessary to meet workload
The person in this position works under general supervision, is
responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per
week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to
remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe
weather and/or disasters.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree, Completion of
a Pharmacy Technician program approved by the State of Florida or
eligible for State registration
- One year of pharmacy experience in a hospital setting is
- Pharmacy Technician Registration in the State of Florida
- Knowledge with pharmacy computer systems and word processing
- Demonstrates competency in IV Preparation
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures including narcotic
record keeping and unit dose medication systems.
