We recognize and celebrate the value of each teammate's unique contributions and encourage a sense of ownership, sharing our mission with patients, families and our communities.Position Summary:Provides a wide variety of support services while concentrating on the Collection of Accounts Receivable, Notifications to Medicare, Medicaid, & Department of Children & Families.Qualifications:A High School diploma or GED and three (3) years experience in Medicare/Medicaid, and third party claim processing, billing, and collections.Must display an aptitude for attaining sufficient knowledge of the various billing, software, different insurance programs and contracts.Good customer service, phone etiquette, research, interpersonal and computer skills required.Home Health Experience - RequiredMedicare DDE experience - RequiredSystems Experience Preferred: Brightree/MatrixCare, Ability, Change HealthcareBilling experience requiredMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides outstanding customer service to all, in accordance with the mission statement of Covenant Hospice, Inc.Routinely reviews outstanding claims and performs follow-up for incorrect payment. Researches denials and underpayments and notifies Patient Financial Services Manager of issues contributing to denial or underpayment. Makes report to Patient Financial Services Manager monthly of those claims needing disallowance or adjustment.Researches incorrect payments and resubmits as necessary to the appropriate insurance carrier.Responsible for gathering statistical or other financial data as requested in the preparation of various financial reports.Sends patient statements for non-covered services, copays and deductibles.Posts payments and adjustments to accounts receivable as directed by the Patient Financial Services Manager.Prepares monthly itemization upon request for cancer/disability policies as needed.Responsible for researching existence of estates, ascertaining estate status, and filing claims against estates using correct forms per state laws.Researches refund requests and completes request for payment if refund warranted. Files appeal letters in cases where refund appears to be unwarranted.Responsible for writing logical, clear appeal letters, gathering supporting documentation, and submitting to appropriate insurance carrier appeals department via US Mail or online as appropriate.Responsible for the scanning & indexing of documents. Researches and prepares quarterly Medicare Credit Balance Report.Submits Part D prior authorization requests.Documents all encounters in the EMRSubmits Certification of Terminal Illness & Election statement to DCF on all FL Medicaid Patients.Submits Request for AL Medicaid LTC approval.Submits NOEs and NOTRs to Medicare timely & accurately.Researches alternate, electronic means for filing claims, receiving Remittance Advices, and payments. Upon approval by Patient Financial Services Manager, completes registration and establishes procedures for maximizing usage of electronic means.Maintain procedural manuals.Assists in the training of employees.Performs other duties as requested.Required to comply with all Covenant Hospice Policies, Procedures and Personnel Policies, including those specifically addressing disaster preparedness and response.Special Demands/Physical Requirements:This position will sometimes require light to medium lifting. Normally, such lifting will involve, but not be limited to, the lifting of boxes, books, office supplies, and small equipment items.
