Job Description:

Operations Manager, Plumbing--The Plumbing Operations Manager leads and oversees the day to day direction of all departmental personnel, equipment, and activities required for safe, efficient and effective business.--General responsibilities include but are not limited to :Lead and promote the safety culture of Comfort Systems USA SoutheastMaintain open and honest lines of communication with senior leadership and field leadership.Be respectful of other stakeholder's needs when executing your responsibilities.Look for ways to improve existing processes and procedures.Collaborate with both Project Management and senior leadership on daily business decisions.--Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :Oversee and direct departmental teams and resources of a $10M-$15M commercial plumbing operation across a regional footprint.Effectively manage field manpower levels of more than 50 + personnel, to adequately staff current plumbing project and scheduling requirements, adjusting as needed.Assist Project Managers and senior leadership with the development of continuous manpower forecasts for current and future projects.Align field supervision with project sites, considering leadership competencies and technical strengths, while coordinating plumbing crew schedules and providing support as required by each project.Develop employee staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage at all project locations, adjusting daily / weekly as needed.Promote a culture of accountability in field leadership through continuous communication, check-ins and site visits.Regularly visit project sites to assist with technical issues and promote effective production.Identify high potential employees and facilitate a path for development through skill gap analysis and aligning with training opportunities.Continuously evaluate technical competencies of field employees to identify training needs; schedule and facilitate training as required.Ensure travel preparations are solidified for field employees regarding lodging, per diem, logistics, and transportation.Oversee weekly field employee timesheet documentation, submission and approve / correct weekly timesheets; addressing issues that may arise.Oversee the application and approval of PTO requests for field employees.Manage relationships with staffing vendors for the acquisition of temporary labor and administration of costsAssist with recruiting, hiring, evaluations and termination processes for field employees.Assist with oversight of departmental company vehicles regarding allocation, maintenance, telematics, etc.Mediate conflict to promote a culture of positive work relationships with customers, vendors, management teams and employees.Work to ensure the most effective time and resource management is being applied to meet customer and company needsAssist with quality control to ensure company standards are maintained while eliminating rework and additional costs.Ensure that crews are properly outfitted with the tools needed to be effective.Assist senior leadership with the coordination of "Safety" and "Supervisor" meetings.Review all daily/weekly/monthly field documentation including, daily reports, daily huddles, two-week look ahead, and safety documentation on active jobs, proactively managing issues that may arise.Maintain and manage departmental employee's competency training and ensure that certifications are renewed when required.Assist estimating departments on new project opportunities based on crew allocations and geographic necessity.Support CAD department to understand technical requirements of shop/fabrication drawings.Assist fabrication shop with prefabrication needs of plumbing projects.Promote adherence to company safety programs, supporting the safety director on all incident reporting related to construction.Evaluate and oversee coordination with the safety director for "Critical Lifts", "Deep Excavations", "Confined Space Entry" and other extraordinary risk level tasks that employees face.Collaborate with Operational Counterparts to maintain continuity in all construction-related activities.Assist the leadership team with all other duties assigned.--Qualifications:Previous experience overseeing and managing manpower for commercial plumbing construction projects ranging in size from $5K to $15M a plus; ultimately responsible for the success of multiple projects simultaneously across a regional geographic footprint.Willing to lead, direct and manage a team of 50 + employeesUnderstanding of plumbing trade construction financial workings related to labor, materials, and equipment budgeting a plus.Ability to foster and promote teamwork through a 'lead by example' mentality.High level of professionalism and ability to communicate across multiple levels of an organization to include senior leadership teams, customers as well as owners and vendors.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to coach, counsel, discipline as needed.Basic computer and technology skills.Overnight travel required.Willingness to participate in training for personal growth as directed by senior leadership.Willingness/ability to pursue trade licensure.Ability to understand and apply the Comfort Systems USA "Core Values" in all professional activities.Must be able to stand, bend, squat and lift up to 50 pounds comfortably.General Requirements:--Must be able to pass a full background screening, MVR, and drug screening.Must be able to pass a physical ability test.Must be willing to work overtime, travel and work a flexible schedule as required by projects.----Comfort Systems USA, Southeast provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
