The Practice Optimization Consultant is responsible for working with the physician enterprise to lead the development and execution of consistent processes and performance related to patient experience, consumer ease of access, and coordination of care using the EMR and other technology platforms. The goal of the Consultant is to create process efficiency and best-practice adoption for the clinics, providers, and team members. The Consultant will assess practice systems and processes, create plans for improvement, and use Change Management methodology including but not limited to data capture and analysis and benchmarking to ensure goals are met. Working with practice leaders and senior administration, the Consultant will improve workflow, systems, and processes via the use of technology, training, innovation, implementation of best practices and collaborative accountability. The Consultant will take a multi-disciplinary approach and will be responsible for engaging with and gathering input from providers and support staff in the practice setting. Excellent hands-on knowledge of the tools used in the PE practices is required. The Consultant will have an excellent understanding of how patients and information move through a practice and the transitions to and from all departments within BHC. The Consultant will collaborate with all BHC departments and will maintain excellent relationships with practice staff and providers. The use of data to support decision making, to track improvements, and to communicate end-user satisfaction is an essential skill set. This position will focus on prioritizing process initiatives to ensure adoption and follow through. The Consultant will liaise between support departments and operations to ensure strategic initiatives are being met.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.


  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business or related field. Master's degree preferred
  • Five years of experience in a physician practice setting is required
  • Knowledge of programs and tools used within practice setting. Knowledge of practice workflow. Superior oral and written communications skills. Proven leadership ability and ability to influence others. Affinity for working in teams. Knowledge of process improvement and redesign methodologies. Ability to flowchart processes. Proven ability to use data for communication and decision support. Proven ability to be a change agent. Strong interpersonal skills required. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in change management. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives. Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action. Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives. Ability to organize and integrate organizational priorities and deadlines.
