This position is remote or hybrid. Are you a public relations professional who is unafraid to think differently? Do you know how to plan strategically and build strong media relationships? Are you a team player who can build creative PR and social media campaigns tied to business and marketing goals? We are seeking just such a passionate external communications/public relations professional to manage Volkert's social media and media relations efforts. This role will oversee Volkert's media relations strategy and planning initiatives while ensuring integration with the firm's priority narratives and marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate is a public relations professional, preferably with an understanding of the infrastructure industry. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization and drive innovation to support the future of external communications and PR. This position reports to Volkert's director of communication. What you'll be doing: As Volkert's public relations specialist, you will contribute to the growth and development of our organization in a variety of ways. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing social media campaigns and content creation promoting company culture, employees, infrastructure projects, and key job openings
• Working with business development and marketing teams to develop external communications strategies
• Monitoring news coverage for company and project mentions
• Building and/or strengthening key reporter relationships; staying current on relevant news outlets, reporters, and their areas of focus
• Writing thought leadership and key project insights stories for Volkert's website and trade publications
• Work with marketing design teams to develop new branding ideas for social media, video, brochure, tradeshow content
• Assist with tradeshow management efforts
• Serving as a strategic trusted external communications advisor to leadership, business, marketing, and other key stakeholders across the firm
• Develop quarterly external e-newsletters with featured content and corporate newsWhat you need to have:
  • B.S. degree in Public Relations, Mass Communications, or a related field of study
  • Two to five years' experience working in a corporate environment using social media, graphic design, and/or public relations activity
  • Graphic design experience required; basic WordPress experience preferred
  • High degree of expertise in writing/editing, repurposing content
  • Creative, solution-oriented bent; not afraid to explore and learns new technologies; takes initiative; high project management skill; highly organized and deadline-focused
  • Experience developing and executing external communications strategies and communications plans, preferably in professional services
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with team members and navigate a matrixed organization
  • Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook and Word; knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary programsTo be a successful Volkert External Communications/Public Relations Specialist, you must possess the following characteristics:
